The Burning Hut

The Burning Hut

The only survivor of a shipwreck washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him, and every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions. But then one day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, the smoke rolling up to the sky. The worst had happened; everything was lost. He was stung with grief and anger. "God, how could you do this to me!" he cried.

Early the next day, however, he was awakened by the sound of a ship that was approaching the island. It had come to rescue him. "How did you know I was here?" asked the weary man of his rescuers. "We saw your smoke signal," they replied.

It is easy to get discouraged when things are going bad. But we shouldn't lose heart, because God is at work in our lives, even in the midst of pain and suffering.

Remember next time your little hut is burning to the ground- - it just may be a smoke signal that summons the grace of God.

Sharpen your skills.

Once a woodcutter went looking for a job. He approached a timber merchant, and got a job with a decent salary and good working conditions. The woodcutter was thrilled and determined to do his best. His boss gave him an Axe and showed him the area where he was supposed to fell trees.
At the end of the first day, the wood cutter brought in 15 trees he had cut. His boss was happy with his performance and congratulated him. The woodcutter tried harder the next day, but he only could fell only 10 trees. The third day he tried even harder, but he was able to bring in just seven. day after day he was bringing less and less trees.
" I must be losing my strength", the woodcutter thought. He went to his boss and apologized, saying that he could not understand what was going on. "When was the last time you have sharpened your axe?" the boss asked. "Sharpen? I had no time to sharpen my axe. I have been very busy trying to cut trees," said the woodcutter.
Most of us never update our skills. We think that whatever we have learned is enough. But good is not enough when better is expected. Sharpening our skills from time to time is the key to success.

Touching Life Story An Inspiring Video by Melik Duyar

THE PARADOX OF OUR AGE

THE PARADOX OF OUR AGE

We have bigger houses but smaller families;

More conveniences but less time;

We have more degrees, but less sense,

More knowledge, but less judgment;

More experts, but more problems;

More medicines, but less healthiness;

We’ve been all the way to the moon and back,

But we have trouble crossing the street to meet the new

neighbour.

We built more computers to hold more information

To produce more copies than ever,

But have less communication;

We have become long on quantity,

but short on quality.

These are times of fast foods,

but slow digestion.

Tall man but short character;

Steep profits but shallow relationships;

It’s a time when there is much in the window,

but nothing in the room.
